MY POTTER STORY

About 18 months ago in Italy, I decided to take a 4-week pottery course. It was always something I wanted to start but never found the time until the pandemic hit. My husband {Danny} and I were in Florence for a month while he was in culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu, and I decided it was the perfect time to finally dive into ceramics. Very quickly, the practice of playing with clay felt very similar to yoga; it was a different form of moving meditation. I did not learn a lot in Italy due to the language barrier but loved how therapeutic throwing was. The hum of the wheel, practicing alone but surrounded by other artists in the studio… the parallels of how pottery and yoga made me feel was the connection I had been longing for.

After moving back to San Francisco, CA - I have been continuing my education as a potter at Ruby’s Clay Studio in the Castro. I’ve been a student there for about a year now. One day, I hope to provide ceramics for my husband’s culinary art {or restaurant}.
